Southbridge Little League Divisions
The Tee Ball division is set up for the Southbridge Little League's youngest and least experienced players, ages 5 and 6. In Tee
Ball, players rotate positions when on defense and hit off a tee when on offense.
The Minor Division (also known as the "Coach Pitch" division) is an instructional division set up primarily for players ages 6, 7 and
8, as well as some 6-year-olds. Each team's coach pitches to their players during the game, although a tee shall be used when
necessary. Players continue learning the basics of baseball and rotate positions while on defense.
The AAA Division is set up primarily for players ages 8, 9 and 10, and it is the first division in which players are allowed to play the
pitcher and catcher positions. Players continue to work on fundamentals of the game as well as learn how to pitch, slide and more.
The Major Division is Little League baseball's flagship division and, in Southbridge, is set up primarily for players ages 10, 11 and
12. The division is a competitive one, however, coaches are still teaching and honing the skills of their players.
The Junior League is set up primarily for players ages 13 and 14. This competitive division is the first in which games are played
on a full-sized baseball diamond, that base runners may steal on the pitch and that balks will be called.
The Senior League is a competitive division set up primarily for players ages 15 and 16.
The Big League is a competitive division set up primarily for players ages 17 and 18. It is the last level of play offered by Little
League baseball.
