Managers, coaches, umpires, and volunteers wanted
|
SOUTHBRIDGE — The Southbridge Little League is looking for managers, coaches and umpires for the rapidly upcoming 2010
baseball season. All volunteers are required to fill out a CORI check form, as required by Little League International.
There is often confusion on the part of volunteers as the differences between managers and coaches. Managers are essentially
the head coach of the team. They are ultimately the responsible individual for their team, schedule practices, run practices,
determine the lineup and who will be pitching, making phone calls to players and their parents, etc.
Coaches are the assistants to the manager. They will help run the practices and the team by doing the various tasks they may be
asked to do by the team's manager. Some teams will split phone call duty between the manager and his/her coaches, or may
delegate some other duties and tasks as necessary.
The Board of Directors is scheduled to appoint managers for the 2010 season on February 20, so time is running out to register to
get your name in if interested in managing a team this year, whether it be Tee Ball, Minor Division (coach pitch), AA, AAA, Major,
Junior League, or Senior League.
For more information on how to become a manager, coach, umpire, or volunteer, contact a member of the Board of Directors.
Regular player registrations have closed for 2010 season
|
SOUTHBRIDGE — The final player registration date for the 2010 season has now passed by, but it is not too late to get onto a
team ... not yet.
If you missed out on any of the several player registration dates held over the last few months, you may be able to register for the
2010 season at player try-out dates. Those dates will be announced soon. All late player registrations are subject to a $20 late
fee, as had been advertised over the last several months.
Payment plans and schedules can be arranged, so there is no need to keep your son or daughter from playing baseball just
because of a temporary shortage of cash.
Teams will be drafted in March, after try-outs have been held, so time is running out to guarantee a roster spot for the upcoming
baseball season.
